Chesterfield County’s Planning Department is seeking an Automation Analyst to have a wide range of responsibilities relating to Planning Department information systems, including its Enterprise Land Management system, geographic information system (ArcGIS), document management/imaging, and web-based applications. This position will demonstrate a high degree of planning, organizational and communication skills. Under supervision of Planning Department’s Information Manager, the Automation Analyst will be responsible for purchase, maintenance, and support of the department’s PC-based computer systems (software and hardware). The Automation Analyst will also participate in the development of the County’s Enterprise Land Management System (ELM) project, including the testing and generation of system reports and inquires. This position also serves as the Department’s Liaison with Information Systems Technology (IST) Department for PC related issues. Automation Analyst will be responsible for meeting the graphical and design needs for the Planning Department. This position will maintain data integrity in the Department’s information systems, perform audits, and other quality control activities. Confers with users to diagnose, investigate, and resolve computer hardware and software problems. Provide training to staff on Planning Department systems. Perform other work as required. This position is a part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications and experience. Successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Geographic Information Systems, Graphics and Web development, Planning or related field, along with two years of experience in report generation, Graphics Design, GIS, 3D modeling; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of urban planning principles is an additional qualification. Considerable skill and experience using ArcGIS 9.3 or above. Experience in reporting tools like Microsoft Power Business Intelligence, SSRS and Adhoc tools. Excellent knowledge in graphical software including not limited to Adobe Creative Cloud. Strong understanding of computer applications, along with a good understanding of geospatial concepts and spatial analysis. General knowledge of ArcGIS online, modeling and Python scripting is preferred. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications. Considerable knowledge of systems analysis and operations. Good logical and innovation skills, enjoys teamwork, and can work independently when required. Ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse range of internal and external customers.
