Chesapeake Section
The Chesapeake Section is one of nine subdivisions of the APA Virginia Chapter. This section is a group of approximately 50 professional planners who either live or work in Virginia's northern peninsulas. Our members have careers in the public sector and in private practices. These members have a vast array of skillsets and specializations. We encourage our members to take advantage of the several events and networking opportunities that the Chesapeake Section will provide over the coming years. The section will draw together all of its members to provide training, foster relationships and raise the stature of planning as a profession and practice in our localities.

Section Details
The Chesapeake Section includes 26 localities, including counties, cities and towns. It is home to the Commonwealth's major waterways: The Potomac, Rappahannock and York Rivers, along with the Chesapeake Bay. In terms of area, it spans approximately 4,065 square miles, stretching across Virginia's coastal plains region. Chesapeake is only the seventh largest section, by landmass, out of the nine established by APA Virginia. There are 469,028 people who call this area home, making this one of the smallest populations by section. Though this area is relatively small, the natural beauty, quality of life and sense of community make Chesapeake a great place to live and work.
