Blacksburg/ New River Valley
The Blacksburg/New River Valley Section contains 39 localities, including counties, cities and towns. Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), Lexington, Roanoke and Salem are located in this region.

Richmond
The Richmond Section includes 25 localities, comprised of counties, cities and towns. Richmond is the State capital and the home of Virginia Commonwealth University. The region also encompasses the tri-cities area, which includes Hopewell, Colonial Heights and Petersburg.

Fredericksburg
The Fredericksburg Section consists of 26 localities, including counties, cities and towns. It is home to the Commonwealth’s major waterways: The Potomac, Rappahannock and York Rivers, along with the Chesapeake Bay.

Hampton Roads
The Hampton Roads Section encompasses 26 localities, including counties, cities and towns. It is home to the Chesapeake Bay and the State’s largest cities, along with a strong coastal port presence.

Northern Virginia
The Northern Virginia Section contains 20 localities, including counties, cities and towns. The region is part of the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.

The Charlottesville/Piedmont Section encompasses 27 localities, including counties, cities and towns. Warrenton, Culpeper and the University of Virginia are located in this region.
