Principal Planner

The City of Williamsburg's Planning Division is seeking a qualified professional to fill the position of Principal Planner. This position is responsible for the coordination and processing of Planning Division permits and applications including but not limited to rezoning, special use permits, and subdivisions. Provides staff support to the Planning Commission and City Council. Provides support to long range planning goals and initiatives. Works under the supervision of the Planning and Codes Compliance Director.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or a related field; and
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in planning, rezoning, site plan review, subdivisions, architectural review, and/or historic preservation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Special Qualifications:
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, membership in the American Institute of Certified Planners.
