General Description: 

Performs paraprofessional planning duties involving customer service, conducting office research and technical tasks to support professional functions of the department.

Organization

The Planning Technician reports to the Current Planning Manager or the Deputy Director of Planning and supervises no staff. The Planning Technician position is part of Hanover County's Career Development Program (CD).
 
 
 Essential Functions:

• Provides technical assistance and information to staff and the public in administration of specific planning ordinances
• Assists customers with preliminary zoning questions
• Provides land use control information based on knowledge of ordinances, policies and regulations
• Maintains socioeconomic data and prepares maps, charts, and tables 
• Researches and compiles information on a variety of planning issues from multiple sources
• Performs related work as assigned
